OUR FOUNDER

Maryann Marino founded Tenacity Media in 1998 to provide full service public relations, media relations, and public affairs advisory services after she left the public affairs office of the California Department of Social Services, where she served as part of Governor Pete Wilson’s administration.

Since forming her own firm, Maryann has provided public relations, media relations and public affairs services to a list of highly visible clients including: Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA), Daughters of Charity Healthcare System, Optum, the Orange County Great Park, PacifiCare and its successor, UnitedHealthcare, Safeway, St. Francis Medical Center and the Workers Compensation Action Network (WCAN).

Prior to serving in state government, Maryann was the government affairs officer for St. Francis Medical Center and was a political fundraiser for a variety of candidates and initiatives. She has directed statewide multi-media campaigns, led crisis management efforts, developed image branding for organizations/issues and provided political advocacy services. She is frequently heard on radio and seen on television throughout California as part of her advocacy effort.

Maryann has received a number of accolades for her work including two Ruby Slipper awards from the Building Industry Association of Orange County and the American Tort Reform Foundation. She was also named the Legal Reform Watchdog of the Year in 2014 and 2002.
